Calculate Your Air Quality Impact
Enter the kilowatt hours per month from your current electricity bill or pick a dollar amount close to what you pay per month. (An average home uses 860 kilowatt hours per month.) The calculator will tell you the resulting emissions from your current non-green power consumption.

By choosing to include emissions-free power in your home energy mix, you can contribute to clearing Ontario's air.

Today, 17% of Ontario's power is produced by burning coal. In 2002, Ontario's five coal plants produced as much pollution as 6.2 million cars. Burning coal is hard on our environment and ourselves -- 30 toxic substances are released by burning coal, including mercury, lead and arsenic. Every kilowatt of coal power that is replaced by a cleaner power source or by conservation reduces the burden on our environment -- and our health

Today in Ontario, every kilowatt of green power you purchase will displace a kilowatt of dirty coal power

Choose the amount closest to what you pay monthly* for electricity and click "Calculate by bill"
Or enter the amount of kilowatt hours you use each month (the average Ontario home uses 860 KwH) and click "Calculate by kwh.

Emission impacts

  • Nitrogen oxides (NOx) creates smog and acid rain.
  • Sulphur dioxide (SO2) is also a major contributor to smog and a major cause of acid rain
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a major cause of global climate change, which threatens to disrupt ecosystems and lead to unstable and dangerous weather patterns
